I opened my own nurse aide school
HOW I OPENED MY OWN NURSE AIDE SCHOOL
When I started Avanza Home Healthcare I never considered opening my own C.N.A. school. Avanza Home Healthcare was founded in 1998 on my kitchen table. At the time I was just looking to supplement my income. I was going to offer employment to my nurse aide friends that I had come to know over the years of working in the field.
In 1995 I worked for a promenade resident that needed home care. When he passed away in 1998 I began to receive calls from several families that were in need of home care for their loved ones. My mind was focused on providing home care not opening my own nurse aide school, but actually, that is what I should have been thinking about.
When I started Avanza HHC on my kitchen table I knew very little about what I needed to do to open my own business. I did know that if I didn't go for it that I would talk myself out of it. I ran to the office supply store and bought some generic invoices and had some inexpensive business cards made. I was determined to start this and build my business however fast or slow it went. Opening my own nurse aide school was still not part of my plan.
In 1999 I met my future business partner. She was interested in opening a nurse aide training program. At this time neither of us had any start up capital. We had to figure out how we were going to open a C.N.A. training school with very little money. If you have cash to buy top quality business cards, brochures, flyers and advertising for your nurse aide school that is great. But I want to assure those that may be like we were, living hand to mouth, that you don't need a lot of money to open your own nurse aide school. We will share with you everything we can to get you started with a minimum of expense.
I decided from the outset that I wanted a business that I could handle. I did not want employees, because I didn't want all the government issues that go along with employees. You do not have to make this same decision. You can build your own C.N.A. school as big as you would like. You can branch out and develop other classes to teach. Once you are out in the market place (hospitals, assistant living facilities and nursing homes) you will begin to know what kind of education is needed for the employees in these facilities.
Opening my own nurse aide school and teaching for the last 10 years has been the most rewarding time of my life. Seeing students come to class with high hopes and excitement for their future is such a thrill. Helping those who feel they have no future and think they will not make it through the program and then, with your help, they do is wonderful.
Over the years we have talked to many of our students that started our C.N.A. school with very little education, or hope for a future. After their nurse aide training and the positive experience of the class they have continued their education and some have become doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and more. Being able to be a positive influence on others, encourage them, let them know they can succeed in whatever they choose has been such a great experience.
Opening your own nurse aide school is possible for anyone. Our manual guides you through the steps and helps you avoid the mistakes that could cost you your school. I love seeing everyone who wants to succeed, succeed.
All Our Best To You,
